Carers have told us they want flexibility and control around booking a break. This new online service, funded initially as a pilot project by the Department of Health allows carers to find and book a care support worker online in a few clicks. Crossroads Care in Hertfordshire partnered with Herts County Council and an organisation called Slivers of Time to work on this exciting new venture. It enables carers to have more control and flexibility in the break they book without the hassle and paperwork of employing someone. The system will allow you to arrange care cover in just a few clicks without having to handle money which makes it an ideal way for you to use Direct Payments. The service is available to you if you purchase care privately as well as if you receive support from the local authority. The system is easy to use and we are happy to help you, your relative or someone acting on your behalf. We will ensure that our service is tailor-made to your family needs. |

Breakaway for Carers is a Hertfordshire County Council online service for carers in Berkhamsted, Tring, Harpenden, Hemel Hempstead, St. Albans and surrounding areas which provides a volunteer befriender to come and stay with the person needing care so you, the carer, can get a break.
